I don’t feature this label often, but I’m making an exception for good reason. This is the 1970s Puma Brasil trainers reissue.
Actually, that should read 1970 because this particular design was created as an official tie-in for the World Cup in Brazil in 1970. You have probably worked that out from the colours and the name.
It’s also a shoe that has stood the test of time well. These slimline designs always do, whether they are from Puma or Adidas. The unfussy styles just look so smart, whether it’s 1970 or 2024. And Puma, to its credit, does it well.
The shape is a plus, but so are the green and yellow, which represent the colours of the World Cup host nation that year. It’s a great combination. There’s also the suede upper, the contrasting Puma stripe, a classic gum outsole, and very subtle branding to the side. You’ll have to look closely to see that.
Not a regular reissue and I suspect it won’t be around for a while after this latest drop. All sizes currently available (it only launched today), so if you want some retro football footwear, get in now. The price is £85.
