These come and go out of the range, but right now the Novesta Star Master cord plimsolls are available in a couple of colours.
Novesta is one of those labels that has appeared seemingly out of nowhere in the past few years. But the label has been around for decades. Just not selling in the obvious outlets.
Like a few others I have mentioned, the label has been a success of the internet age when lesser-known and more niche brands have been able to sell more widely.
Novesta has been making footwear out of Slovakia since 1939 and is one of the few makers still producing shoes in its native location and using designs that have been its trademark for longer than anyone can remember.
Still a minimal design with a chunky sole, still handmade and still with the original branding. The only thing that really changes is the material for the upper.
There are plenty of options for that when it comes to canvas, but the ones for me are the cord finishes. Basically, because I love a cord shoe and also because they don’t seem to be as common. As I said, they either sell through quickly or they don’t hit the range. But right now they are available as part of Novesta’s autumn selection.
White, beige and navy are the colours available right now (as far as I can see) with the beige being my personal favourite. The design is the same across all, with all the detailing I mentioned above.
As for the price, £65 for the Novesta Star Master cord plimsolls any of the three colours.
