I saw this previewed online on the Japanese site a few weeks back. Thankfully, the wool harrington jacket by Beams Plus is here and doesn’t disappoint.
At the end of the day, this is another harrington jacket, joining the numerous designs already out there, not least the ones produced by Baracuta. But what makes this special is that it is made by Beams Plus.
Beams Plus has a reputation for recreating some wonderful designs from the middle of the 20th century and particular items associated with the ivy league movement. So it isn’t really a surprise to see a harrington jacket on the racks.
The difference here is perhaps the construction. This is made of wool, although, according to the retailer, it feels more like a ‘tough cotton twill’. Still, it is wool and as such, is likely to be warmer over autumn and winter compared to some of the competition.
Details are as you might expect, so a cotton lining, buttoned neck tab, dual zip fastening, raglan sleeves, an interior chest pocket, two slash pockets with buttoned flaps and ribbed cuffs and hem. Looks like an umbrella vent on the back too.
Of course, the fit will be a little different too, with Beams Plus pieces tending to be on the slightly smaller side. The price is just a little up compared tp a classic Baracuta G9, with the wool harrington jacket by Beams Plus selling for £302 in just the khaki colour.
