The best thing out from Adidas right now? I really can’t see past the wonderful Adidas Cadet OG trainers.
It’s the kind of niche release that keeps the Adidas back catalogue interesting. Yes, the likes of the Samba and Gazelle are always out there and occasionally, they have us running around trying to find a pair of City Series trainers produced in ridiculously small numbers. But sometimes they throw in a curveball. In a good way.
The Cadet is an old shoe – and a rarely-seen one. In fact, I don’t recall a previous remake of this one in the recent past. And by recent, I am talking about a number of years.
So not a great deal of action with this silhouette since its debut in 1974. This is why I am so surprised it has been brought back by Adidas. Not that I’m complaining, Far from it.
This is a very hip, low-cut shoe and back in the day, its selling point was the extra padding on the tongue and to protect the heel and Achilles tendon. These days it’s just a great piece of retro sportswear. The kind of thing Adidas used to do so well. And in this colour combination, it’s an absolute winner.
White leather upper, suede overlays, a sparing rubber outsole, it ticks all the boxes and is an ideal shoe for the summer months.
If you want a pair on your feet, the price of them is £69.
