How does a replica of the first ever basketball shoes grab you? If it does, check out the 1892 National Treasure Lo Top and Hi Top by the Colchester Rubber Co.
The title tells at least half of the story. These shoes are said to be faithful replicas of the first basketball sneakers invented in 1892, which were rediscovered back in 2004 and reproduced now.
They pack the same 5″ high-top design (lo are available too obviously), canvas uppers, turkey feather sole pattern, and Colchester Rubber Co. logo that are all hallmarks of the original shoe.
The Colchester Rubber Co. were pioneers in the field, producing high-top basketball footwear ahead of any of its competitors by a good quarter of a century.
Most importantly, they still look good today, which is why you buy a shoe. They are available in an assortment of authentic Victorian era colour options and sell for £75 a pair for the shoes and £80 for the hi top.
