Not cheap, but the launch of the Adidas Samba 62 trainers is an interesting and limited edition design that’s likely to appeal to a lot of people.
The 1960s seem to be the thing for Adidas this month – we saw the return of the Adidas Japan at the start of the month too. But this is a little different.
You might recall that Adidas brought out a 1950s-style Samba back in 2023. This time the label has gone for another vintage premium reissue, described as ‘a reshaped tribute to the early versions of the famed football silhouette’. Specifically, a Samba based on the look of the shoe back in 1962.
The shoe has been around since 1949 (as that earlier reissue suggests), but in 1962, the Samba was starting to look like the shoe we know now – but with some vintage touches you won’t see on the modern-day model.
The result is a good-looking shoe with touches that hark back to its footballing past. This reissue/vintage take has a premium Cloud White leather upper, a suede T-toe, and ‘calligraphic’ gold foil branding. It also has outsole cut-outs and herringbone treading to aid grip on icy surfaces. Good for this time of year.
But it doesn’t come cheap. Likely a one-off and in limited numbers, it retails for £150.
