There are various ways of describing this one, but for the sake of argument, let’s go for the Fair Isle v-neck slipovers by Real Hoxton.
Because that’s what the maker describes them as. You could call them sleeveless sweaters, tank tops or anything you like. But at the end of the day, no one really cares. It’s whether the look appeals.
And if you want an old-school knit or layer an added layer this time of the year, it might well do. Especially if the idea of looking like a ‘turn of the ‘70s’ Paul McCartney appeals. He was always keen on this kind of thing just after The Beatles ended.
Real Hoxton has done a good job of cornering the market for affordable classics in the last couple of years, and it has done a good job with these. However, they do cost a little more than you might expect.
That’s likely because they are both limited editions in all designs and handmade from 100% lambswool. That’s always going to push the price up a little. But they still compare very well to the ‘designer’ labels out there.
Have a look at the four designs pictured here and see if any catch your eye. If they do, they are available in all sizes, from small right through to 3XL. All priced the same at £110.

Note that the maker has recently added buttoned versions of its fair isle knits like the one pictured below. The buttons are pretty much the only difference, with the price the same at £110.
