Part of a large collection, but this Italy 82 zipped sweatshirt by Le Coq Sportif in white is the standout for me.
There is a blue one, but it doesn’t quite have the impact of this jacket. And there are also a couple of t-shirts based on the football shirts worn in the 1982 World Cup campaign, But again, not quite as col as this.
It’s described as a zipped sweatshirt, but it’s essentially a track jacket or bomber jacket. Just a bit thicker, as the name suggests.
Like the rest of the range, it celebrates 40 years since Italy won the 1982 World Cup, with Le Coq Sportif being the kit supplier at the time.
What you get looks fairly straightforward. And in some ways, it is. A soft cotton/polyester jacket with the Le Coq logo, an Italian-inspired badge (complete with the year) and the stripe detail on the cuffs and collar. But there’s more to it than that.
This is actually a double-side jacket, with the reverse featuring illustrations of ‘the Italian team’s journey in 1982’. See the product page if you want to see that. But I suspect you’ll not be showing that side off when out and about.
A limited edition, hard to find and not cheap when you do. This retails for €239 directly from the maker.
