Well, if anyone is going to make one of these, they are. That’s The Ivy League Jacket at John Simons, which has just landed.
Produced by the John Simons Apparel Company offshoot of John Simons (which always makes very good quality clobber), this is a madras jacket of course and a design that has been getting a lot of attention of late. Have a read of the Dexy’s go Ivy League for a bit of background.
This is based on an original 1950s ivy silhouette (so a touch longer) and is a completely unstructured and unlined madras jacket, which means, apart from the way it hangs, it is pretty much perfect for the time of year.
Each one is made in London with three-button fastening, a centre vent and with real horn buttons. Detail and authenticity the name of there game here.
What I’m not sure of is whether there are colour variations of this one available. Just the colour here is featured on the website right now, so I’ll have to go with this being the only colour combination available.
If you want one, it is available for chest sizes 36 through to 52, with the full specification on the John Simons website. If one fits you and is your kind of thing, the price of this linen jacket is £275.

PS Nice labels courtesy of Dry British (aka Steve Millington) too.
