A thing of beauty and a 1960s classic. The Levi’s Made In Japan Type III Trucker Jacket returns in premium form.
It hasn’t really gone anywhere, but it is increasingly harder to find this jacket. I have featured it in the past, as well as suede and leather variants. It’s fair to say that the white version was popular too. But is seen less and less on the shelves.
This one is all that you want of the 1967 classic, with some added craftsmanship thrown in for good measure,
As you can see from the title, this is a ‘Made In Japan’ version in what’s described as a ‘medium blue wash’. The difference? Well, if you love your clothing from Japan you’ll know that they just take a little more care in producing things.
This jacket was made in Japan using traditional techniques (which isn’t often the case with similar designs), including the red and blue patching and repairing you see throughout the garment. Levi’s branded metal buttons and tapered “V” stitches of course.
Like all similar jackets, it will age with you, depending on wear and how much (and how) you wash it. I’ve got denim and cord jackets going back decades, with the character of age being the biggest selling point.
If you like the idea of this one, Stuarts has it right now in all sizes. £195 isn’t cheap, but it’s an investment that should serve you well.
