I know there’s talk of a mini heatwave, but we all know rain will eventually come. When it does, The Harry Palmer raincoat by Lancashire Pike is something to treasure.
I think there was a company making clothing inspired by the Harry Palmer movies some years back. But it was years ago and that particular niche has never been filled. Not that it being filled by Lancashire Pike, but they do make this iconic coat.
When I say make, I mean make too. The Harry Palmer raincoat is a bespoke, handmade item. So if you order one, you might have a little wait before the coat is ready to wear (but soon enough for the autumn and winter weather).
It’s specifically inspired by the coat worn by Michael Caine in the Funeral in Berlin movie and is a button fly front raincoat made in single-layer L24 Ventile and lined in a retro changeant silk, the latter offering a luxurious iridescent appearance.
Also present are raglan sleeves, concealed pockets and an inside zip pocket, with the colour (of course) being stone.
You are looking at between 6 to 8 weeks for it to be made and sent out, so get in early if you want it for the worst of the year’s weather. £375 isn’t cheap, but it compares favourably to several big-name labels – and those aren’t made just for you.
